Hi Friends,
If you could give yourself permission to do something differently or drop something altogether, what would it be?
🎉 That's the question I ask our guests at the end of every Free Time conversation. To celebrate recently hitting the 200th episode, I'm giving you the ultimate compilation (two in fact).
Part One features 20 of my favorite permission slips about doing less, charging more, and working in your zone of genius. (Full show notes here)
Part Two offers 20 more about mindset, staying in the game, and the spiritual aspects of running a Heart-Based Business. (Full show notes here)
🥂Cheers to the first 💯💯, and I already can't wait to see where the next batch takes us! Thank you, as always, for being here listening and reading :)
Now onto this week's goodies . . .
💌 Time Well Spent Roundup
⚙️ Tips & Tools
I love this concept from You're Invited by Jon Levy: "Just naming an activity can give it a boundary that differentiates it from everything else. I don't host a supper club; I host the Influencers Dinner, and now I have member or dinner alumni."
I find naming things powerful for making abstract ideas sticky and shareable; whether it's a new part of my IP (Pivot Method, Free Time Framework), a creative practice or system (Made by Monday, Collection Bucket), my newsletters (PivotList, Time Well Spent), or even a feeling (Burn It All Down Mode, The Burdensome B's).
Two related books: Check out Nick Gray's 2-Hour Cocktail Party. Once you get rolling with hosting, he also recommends giving your event a unique name. And huge congrats to founding BFF member Leanne Hughes who just released her new book (with title inspo from Nick :), The 2-Hour Workshop Blueprint.
Finally, Wes Kao wrote a fantastic piece on creating frameworks (h/t Kelli for sharing in BFF).

💬 Quote
"There is arguably something radical in waiting for the culture to come back to you, instead of contorting yourself around the finicky expectations of the current era."
—Naomi Fry, How Philipp Plein Became the King of Lowbrow High Fashion
💭 Question
Where are you contorting yourself to fit finicky cultural expectations?
How might it be a signal that you're actually ahead of an upcoming trend?
What would happen if you gave yourself permission to go your own way?
📝 Permission
Take a stand for something you believe inor a way you believe in working-even if the rest of culture or business best practices haven't caught up yet.
